What's in an online dating diary?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

shutterstock_59331226Traditionally a diary was something that was written in order not to be shared – a form of personal and private expression confined to a secret piece of paper. In a world now rife with online culture and social media – the rise of the status update, the blog entry and the tweet, it seems that it is becoming ever so the more acceptable to share our personalised bios in an online community. Why is this? – Quite simply; people are interesting. Once we connect to what someone is expressing – it is human curiosity to wonder what we can expect from them next – in terms of online dating, there is no better way to create interest than by creating your own online diary.

Tips for diary success

1) Honesty The most important tip is to be honest. Your diary is all about selling who you are, what you like doing. You want to attract someone who appreciates your interests and wants to share them with you!

2) Updates – It is important to keep updating your diary. It could be about anything interesting you’ve done that day, general beliefs and thoughts.

3) Positivity – It is important you don’t use your diary to be negative. Positive people attract a lot more interest!

Why don’t you give an online diary a go? Just login to your profile and write your first entry today – you’ll be amazed at the responses you get.

Online Dating is on the Increase!

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

shutterstock_15256432Online dating or internet dating; however you’d like to classify it – experienced an unfairly dealt, rocky road during the early days of its existence. A cloud of uncertainty hung around the words ‘internet dating’ – this cloudy spell however, didn’t stay around for long! Dating Agency are happy to announce that online dating has escaped the clutches of this original view and more and more of you are reaping the benefits of internet dating!

The stigma traditionally attached to online dating mainly sprung out of an uncertainty of the unknown – a fear of what we are unsure of – and it is only when that brave few of us give it a go – and think, well actually I quite enjoyed that! –t he stigma and uncertainty begin to disappear. Across the UK alone 1.1 million of us are using online dating and here at Dating Agency we have seen our members increase almost half since January this year. More and more of you are using internet dating to meet your own needs – and why shouldn’t you?!

And here’s why Dating Agency rate online dating: it’s convenient, you can search and chat to people in the comfort of your home. It is so important to feel comfortable and when you’re in your own environment, you can be. You don’t have to rush – you can really spend your time getting to know someone, in turn making sure you feel happy before you take things any further and meeting face to face. Part of the original stigma questioned how you could get to know someone online – a lot of us, especially online daters are beginning to realise how powerful the written word can actually be – it is an insight into a person that may not come across over a face to face meeting, it is also a great way to loose your inhibitions and be yourself! Not only is it a great way to meet a potential love match – it’s a great way to meet new friends that you can share your interests with!

It’s a no brainer – Dating Agency gives Internet Dating a massive thumbs up!

Your ideal partner is out there, right now waiting for you, but the best way to find them is to identify what’s not been working for you so far and then to make adjustments until you get the results you want.

Online dating is a great way to meet other like-minded single people, there’s no doubt about it, but too often we start to upload a profile and send those winks and emails when we’re feeling lonely on a Sunday afternoon, in the hope that our love life might miraculously change by 8pm!

So, if you’re finding the dating process a struggle or if you’ve been feeling frustrated, confused or lonely, don’t worry. The good news is that I’m here to help, and the answers to where you’ve been going wrong are just around the corner.  Here’s how you can avoid the 3 biggest mistakes people make with online dating.

No.1:  Not Committing The Time And Effort To Dating Online

How great would it be if we could go to the gym once every 6 months for 2 hours and have the body of our dreams! That would be on my wish list for sure but realistically I know I have to go 3 or 4 times a week to stay in shape.

There’s no quick fix for finding love online in the same way that there’s no quick fix for having a healthy body. You have to be proactive and put the work in to see the results – and if you do, the results will be priceless. Continue reading »

Age isn’t a barrier to dating – it’s an advantage!  Dating in your 50s is just as exciting as it was in your 20s or 30s, and it’s far more satisfying too.

You’re never too old to date or look for romance, companionship and someone to share both the exciting and mundane moments of life – and that’s why so many of us over 50s are flocking to online dating.   Read on to discover why age is an advantage when you’re dating.

You Know Yourself

It is a cliché, but by the time we’re in our 50s, we’re older, wiser and know ourselves much better than we did when we were in our 20s and 30s. We know what we want, what will complement our life and what our boundaries are far more than we did when we were younger – and because of this, we’re more successful daters. Continue reading »

Dating Advice: How To Write A Winning Profile

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Write a winning profile that will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

Here's how to write a profile that will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

It can be daunting writing your dating profile; what should you say, how long should it be and how do you make it interesting?  Here’s how to get noticed for all the right reasons.

First Impressions Count

Think of your profile and photo as your calling card; this is your first impression so make sure it counts! Anyone who visits your page will decide whether or not they want to hear from you, contact you, or meet up with you on the basis of your profile.

When you first join, take a look around DatingAgency.com to see what other members do, so you can see what looks great and what sounds dreadful. We’re sure you’ll agree that there’s nothing worse than a one line profile that says; ‘I don’t know what to write here. If you want to know anything, just ask.’ This just makes the person sound dull, uninteresting and lazy, and if you do this whilst paying to be a full member, you’re just wasting your money! Rob and Emma Green from Green's Restaurant, Whitby

Whisk your date off for lunch or dinner at one of this year’s award-winning restaurants.

The winners of this year’s numerous restaurant and hotel awards have been announced, and here are the ones you need to know about.  Bon appetit!

Green’s Restaurant & Bistro, in Whitby, North Yorkshire

If you’re looking for somewhere to take your date in North Yorkshire, head to Green’s Restaurant & Bistro in Whitby. Not only has chef Rob Green been crowned National Seafood Chef of the Year, but the restaurant which he runs with his wife Emma won the ‘Taste of Yorkshire’ award at the White Rose Awards organised by the Yorkshire Tourist Board.

The restaurant always has a menu brimming with bounty from the surrounding coast.  Rob keeps in daily contact with the skippers of the local trawlers to get the best of ‘The Catch of the Day’, which he collects fresh each morning from the Quayside a few minutes away from the Restaurant – and even the name of the boat which caught the catch is on the menu.  Of course all the meat is local too – and even the flour for their homemade bread hails from the county.
